The fibres
| Fibre | Used for | Origin | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cashmere 2/26 | Scarves | Biella, Italy | Warm at low weight. Wears faster than wool and needs gentle washing. |
| Merino 17.5 µm | Blazer, trouser, training top | New Zealand, woven in Biella | Does not itch, does not smell, recovers. Needs elastane to hold its shape. |
| European linen 165 g | Summer shirts | Grown in Normandy, woven in Lithuania | Cool, strong, breathes. Creases. That is the nature of the fibre and not a fault. |
| Tencel lyocell | Dress, lining | Lenzing, Austria | Falls heavily, breathes like cotton, made in a closed loop. |
| Boiled wool felt 5 mm | Slippers | Portugal | Shaped instead of sewn. No seam over the toe means no rubbing. |
| Mulberry silk 19 momme | New Year shirt | Como, Italy | Heavy enough to drape. Sand-washed it goes matt instead of shiny. |
| Egyptian cotton 120/2 | Day shirts | Woven in Italy | Fine twisted yarn. Improves with washing. |
| Recycled polyamide | Swimwear, tights | Fabric from Italy | Dries fast, tolerates chlorine and salt. Sheds microfibre in the wash, use a laundry bag. |
| Vegetable-tanned leather | Soles, hangtags | Tuscany, Italy | Darkens where you walk. No chromium in the tanning. |
What we do not use
- PFAS
- No fluorine-based water repellency. Our PFAS-free treatment lasts a shorter time and can be renewed, and we say so instead of leaving it out.
- Silver and zinc as odour control
- It washes out and ends up in the water. We use merino instead, which does the same job without an additive.
- Conventional cotton without certification
- All cotton is GOTS or OCS certified, with a licence number that can be checked.
- Chromium in tanning
- Vegetable-tanned leather only.
Certificates we require of the supplier
| Certificate | Applies to | Why |
|---|---|---|
| OEKO-TEX Standard 100 | All textiles | Baseline: no harmful residues in the finished garment. |
| GOTS or OCS | Organic cotton | The licence number is published per product. |
| GRS or RCS | Recycled content | Without it, the word recycled is a claim with nothing behind it. |
| ZQ or Responsible Wool Standard | All wool and merino | Mulesing-free. |
| European Flax | Linen | Traceable European cultivation. |
We never make the claims climate neutral, carbon offset, environmentally friendly or planet friendly. They are either prohibited or on their way to being so in the EU, and they are not worth the risk.
