The name came first. Frans is the Swedish form of Franciscus, and it is also the Swedish word for the knotted finish on a scarf. André is the same name once more, in the other language.
It could have become a retrofit. We decided it would not, and let the name settle what the first product would be.
Cut or knotted
A machine-cut fringe is faster, costs less and looks good for three months. Then it starts to fray unevenly, because nothing holds the threads together where the weave ends.

A hand-knotted fringe binds every bundle. It lasts as long as the scarf lasts, and it can be repaired when a knot lets go. The difference does not show in the shop. It shows in the third winter.
Two saffron picks and one guacamaya
A little way up from each end, three coloured picks run through the rhythm of the weave. Two in saffron and one in guacamaya. The rest of the scarf is charcoal.
That is the whole colour strategy in miniature: eighty per cent Nordic base, fifteen per cent the shared chromatics Sweden and Colombia have in common, five per cent Latin accent. The signal should be visible to whoever knows where to look, and should not shout at whoever does not.
Why a scarf and not a jacket
Four reasons, in descending order of weight. A scarf has no size and therefore no returns problem. It can be made in fifty pieces. It carries the whole palette across a surface large enough to be seen. And it is the only product we can finish by 5 November 2026 without cutting corners in the sampling round.
The fifth reason is that it is called what the brand is called. That does not hold up in a calculation, but it is the argument that makes somebody remember us.
What we do not know yet
We have not settled which workshop will knot the fringe in production. The time study was done on our own table, and eleven minutes per scarf across fifty pieces is nine hours of work that somebody is to be paid for at a wage we can stand behind.
We put the workshop and the town on the product page when the agreement is in writing, not before. A name on a product page is a claim the customer can ring up and check, and that is the whole point of writing it.
