Measure yourself right and skip the return

A quarter of all fashion sold in Sweden comes back, and the most common reason is size. Five measurements taken in three minutes solve most of it. Here is how to take them and what they mean in our table.

Our size table gives garment measurements, not body measurements. The difference is that a garment measurement is what the garment actually measures lying flat, and it is the only figure you can check against something you already own.

The fastest way to pick the right size is therefore not to measure your body. It is to measure a garment that fits the way you want it to fit.

Method one: measure the garment you already have

  1. Lay the garment flat on a table. Smooth it out without pulling.
  2. Chest width: measure straight across, one centimetre below the armhole, edge to edge.
  3. Total length: from the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem.
  4. Sleeve length: from the shoulder seam to the edge of the cuff.
  5. Compare the figures with our table and pick the row that comes closest.

A measurement two centimetres off ours is the same garment. One six centimetres off is a different size.

Method two: measure yourself

MeasurementWhereHow
ChestThe widest part of the ribcageTape level, breathe out normally
WaistThe narrowest part, above the navelDo not hold your stomach in
HipThe widest part over the seatFeet together
InseamFrom the crotch to the floorNo shoes, back straight
SleeveFrom the edge of the shoulder bone to the wristArm slightly bent

Between two sizes

If you fall between two sizes, the garment decides which way to go. A blazer has to sit on the shoulder, so choose by shoulder width and let a tailor take in the waist. A shirt has to sit at the neck and across the chest, so choose the larger one if your shoulders are broad.

Our velvet blazer is cut straighter through the waist than a classic suit jacket. Between sizes, most people take the smaller one.

Scarf and slipper

The scarf comes in one size, 70 by 200 centimetres, and is made to be worn both as a scarf and over the shoulders. The slipper follows European shoe sizes and runs true. If your foot is wider than average, take one size up.

If it still turns out wrong

Fourteen days of withdrawal apply from the day you received the item, whatever the reason. We pay return shipping within Sweden, and the money is back on your card within five banking days of the return arriving.

Exchanging for another size is quicker than a return plus a new order. Email us before you send it and we will set the size aside.
